Writer, The Send by GearJunkie (Contract)
AllGear Digital is looking for a high-energy, creative wordsmith with a passion for the outdoors to curate content and write copy for The Send by GearJunkie, The Newsletter of The Outdoors. This is an hourly, contract position expected to work 30-40 hours per week. Compensation is $26.45/hour.

Responsibilities
- Curate daily newsletter content from a wide variety of news sources, both within and outside the outdoor industry.
- Write high-quality, publication-ready news content in the specified template and GearJunkie’s editorial voice.
- Create or coordinate supporting visuals (e.g., photographs, pull-out quotes) for pieces.
- Format newsletter for distribution, including sponsored inclusions and trackable links.
- Demonstrate subject matter expertise in several of the following categories:
- Outdoor industry news
- National Parks News
- Hike/Camp/Backpack
- Snowsports
- Adventure travel
- Hunt & fish
- Cycling
- Climbing
- Work effectively with editorial and marketing colleagues across the organization to deliver an industry-leading publication on a daily cadence.
Requirements
- 2+ years of journalism experience and a portfolio of published content, including outdoor news and features; experience writing newsletters a plus.
- Demonstrated eye for visual design, including photography, images, and layout.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with digital publishing tools and content management systems; WordPress experience preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field (preferred).
