Affiliate Writer, GearJunkie

AllGear Digital is looking for a high-energy, creative wordsmith with a passion for the outdoors to build high-quality gear reviews and buyer’s guides for GearJunkie, a leading online publication dedicated to the active, outdoor lifestyle. The Affiliate Writer, GearJunkie writes publication-ready content that informs and engages readers and catalyzes purchase behavior. This is a full-time, remote, contract-to-hire position. Compensation will be based on location, skills and experience, expected to range from $48,000 – $55,000 annually.


Responsibilities

  • Write publication-ready product reviews and buyer’s guides
  • Create or coordinate supporting visuals (e.g., photographs, pull-out quotes) for pieces 
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise in one or both of the following categories: 
    • Hunt/Fish
    • Snowsports and Hike/Camp/Backpack
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of SEO principles and practices

Requirements

  • 2+ years of journalism or copywriting experience with demonstrated experience writing gear or product reviews
  • Photography skills as demonstrated by a portfolio of work including product photography
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills 
  • Familiarity with digital publishing tools and content management systems 
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines 
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field (preferred)
